3G iPhone Officially Lunched

Yesterday, as I've mentioned on my post, Steve Jobs of Apple will officially lunch the new 3G iPhone - and as expected and anticipated, Apples’ 3G iPhone has been officially lunched and will be out in the market on 11^th of July 2008, that’s Friday. But before marking your calendar consider the following early reviews of some pros and my not-so-pro comments (duwanna put it review) on this new Apple stuff.

Out of excitement, early this morning instead of just play music for my regular coffee-morning start-up ritual, I had to switch my TV on for some morning show (though the Belo show is on TFC and is tempting I had to switch channel), and it seems that I had my luck today, on ABC’s World News with Charles Gibson, on headline, “The Released of Apple’s 3G iPhone”.

So wait, wait, wait….well maybe because I didn’t got my usual dose of coffee in the morning, I fell asleep and when I woke-up The World News is over, and the Insider is now on.

Anyways, this morning on Apple’s official URL, on the main page, the tempting and delicious – 3G iPod.

Though it was labeled 3G, it looks the same.

So, read, read, read, and another read…

Pros:

1.       Looks good as always, very sophisticated. (mukhang mamahalin talaga, at hindi lugi ang snatcher sa effort)

2.       The Multi-touch screen is there (though hindi na bago ‘to)

3.       Now it has 3G (dapat lang)

4.       It’s half the price of its predecessor (eto ang bago at magandang balita)

5.       A GPS system (hhhmm, tingnan natin)

 Cons: 

1. Maybe I’m wrong with my assumption that when you say “3G” the capability of having a video call will be available. Well on iPhone’s case, it’s 3G but no video call. The 3G used here is for the high speed connection (HSDPA – High Speed Data Packet Access), which I guess is already an ancient thing if you own a UIQ or an S60 phones.

2. As I learned on PC World review, a plastic back??? C’mon Apple!!! Yes you got it right, this new 3G iPhone, as Steve Jobs ticked on the WWDC keynote as “design achievement”, has a full plastic back. Why plastic back? As PC World writes, “this change may indeed be a virtue – the shiny metallic back …. are maddeningly effective magnets for scratches, fingerprints, and grime.” But, still plastic???? If you’re on this “Go-Green” thing, well surely this is not your cup. 

3. iPhone as a modem. Still I think it’s a big no-no. Though Apple claimed iPhone is a big move for the future of smartphone, well that’s one thing that Jobs I guess missed. UIQs and S60s has it for ages. 

4. There is no improvement on the camera, it still has the 2 MP. Though higher MP on camera is not a must for a good shot, but for non-pro-clickers I must say that it’ll help.

Pahabol: And the recently concluded WWDC (World-Wide Developers Conference), gives iPod Touch users some good news and bad news.

The good news is that iPod Touch user can now enjoy the App Store, but the user must update the iPod Touch (currently having a Software version 1.1.4) to iPhone 2.0 Software.

And that gives us the bad news, its not free, you have to buy it.

3G iPhone on WWDC

For those iPhone fanatics, well this is your day! Today, Apple CEO Steve Jobs and other software developers will convene for Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference.

When iPhone was lunched, though quite expensive, it was sold in the market like hotcake. Nowadays, where 3G capability on smart phones is a must (esp. outside the US market, EU, Japan, Asia), despite iPhones’ sleek design and sophisticated multi-touch screen, 3G capability is the one thing that missing.

But that’s before today. Because today, on the Worldwide Developers Conference, aside for the official announcement of iPhone’s new software platform, aficionados all over the world (kasama na ako dito), is on fever pitch anticipation for the release of Apple’s new 3G iPhone. Yeah, you read it right, a 3G iPhone.

As PC World writes, the new iPhone features a GPS (Global Positioning System) service. And if it seems that it’s quite too big for your pocket (specs here), then this is good news, the new iPhone now comes with a thinner casing, not to mention the “improved virtual keyboards with heptics”, like multitouch technology as Shaw Wu wrote. (excited na tuloy akong makita ‘to)

Another good news, the pricing for the 3G iPhone may be US$50 to US$100 cheaper than the old iPhone. (mas mura).

Further, with iPhone 2.0 software, this 3G iPhone provides enterprise applications, including push e-mail support through the Microsoft Exchange Mail Server. It also includes an SDK (software development kit) for developers to write iPhone applications.

The good news is not only for iPhone users, but with this SDK, by the end of the year a lot of third party applications can also be used for your iPod Touch. 

So this 3G iPhone includes a video call now? or atleast 3.5 MP camera? Mmmm…can’t answer that today, lets just wait for its release maybe later today...

Sa Inbox, inisa-isa ang mga mensaheng hindi ko pa nababasa. Mga kung ano-anong notice, “notice for service expiration”, “internet total bundle consumed notice” galing sa provider. Mga patalastas. Mga nangungulit at nang-iimbitang tindahan na bisitahin sila sa kanilang “Sale”. Mga balita galing ng CNN.

Pinili, inisa-isa ang mga mensaheng wala namang kabuluhan. Mga mensaheng kumakain lang ng lugar sa aking telepono. Pinili kung aling mensahe, kung kaninong mesahe ang aking buburahin, alin ang itatago.

Sa bandang huli, eh nahirapan na akong mag-isip. Nahirapan na akong pagdesisyunan kung alin ang importante at alin ang walang kwenta. Kaya nauwi ako sa pagpapangkat-pangkat ng mga mensahe.

Medyo naguluhan ako noong una, kasi inisa-isa ko ulit lahat ng SMS sa inbox ko, pero habang tumatagal at medyo naaayos na ang salansan eh, ok na rin. Naaliw na rin ako. Natuwa na rin ako.

‘Yong mga Sent Messages, halos lahat binura ko na, pero may tinira pa rin ako. Mga “Sent SMS / MMS” na baka sa bandang huli ay kailanganin ko bilang katunayan na nagpadala talaga ako ng mensahe..

Meron din palang laman ang “Draft” folder ko. May mga mensaheng ‘di sinasadyang naisulat at may mga mensahe ring sadyang isinulat, subalit hindi na naipadala dahil naubusan na ako ng lakas ng loob na gawin ‘yon. Ang iba naman ay naiwanan na ng panahon. May mga pagbating kung ngayon ko ipapadala ay hindi na napapanahon.

Ilan ang binura ko. At ang ilan ay pinanatili kong “Draft”, malay ko ba, pagdating ng panahon ay magkaroon rin ako ng lakas ng loob na ipadala ‘to.

CONTACTS:

Matapos himayin ang mga mensahe, sa Contacts naman ako. Medyo matagal na rin kasi na hindi ko naa-update and aking Contacts. ‘Yong iba, lalo na ‘yong mga Contacts sa Pinas eh makailang ulit nang nagpalit ng numero (at ang medyo nakakapikon eh ‘yong nagpapalit sila ng number tapos hindi ka man lang i-inform na nagpalit na pala), ‘yong iba eh na-snatched na ‘yong mga mobile phone na gamit nila noon, syempre kasama ‘yong SIM Card. ‘Yong iba naman eh lumipat na ng tirahan, may nakipagsapalaran muli sa ibang bansa. Merong nagpalit ng e-mails. May mangilan-ngilan rin sa contacts ko na nilisan na ang mundong ito… di ko lang alam kong maaga silang nagsawa, o talagang “finished contract” na talaga sila. At ‘yong iba naman eh “New Look” na.. kailangan rin syempreng i-update ‘yong mga pichur sa contacts.

Kailangan na rin nito ng update. Halos kalahati kasi ng memory ko ang kumukunsumo eh ang mga MP3 file ko. ‘Yong iba eh hindi na naman napapatugtog, halos lahat nga ata eh. ‘Yong mga ringtone naman eh wala ring gamit, kasi masaya na ako sa normal na “rriinnnnnnnggg” at ‘yong simpleng “beep”. Hindi ko na rin naman napapalinggan ang ilang mga recording ko, na ngayon eh hindi ko rin mawari kong bakit ako nagrerecording.. he he he..and speaking of recording, muli ko tuloy napakinggan ang “Kabukiran” track na awit ng barkada minsan isang panahon, bukod sa mangyan eh maririnig rin ang pasi-second voice ni Lyzius.

Video Files:
Eto kailangan na rin talaga ng update. Sandamakmak na kung ano-anong video ang laman. May bidyong naipasa lang, merong namang hiningi talaga, meron ring sariling ripped, may ilang sariling kuha. PG 13 naman ang genre ng mga bidyo ko, hindi nga, pag-iingat na rin, iwas kalaboso ba. Dito kasi, though di ko pa first hand nararanasan, sa mga police checkpoint daw bukod sa mga fake na papeles, isa rin ang mga mobile phone units (lalo na ‘yong may mga kakayahang kumuha at magsalang ng bidyo) ang pinag-iiinitan ng mga pulis. Una agad hahanapin ang mga, alam mo na, mga “scandal” file, na malimit makikita sa mobile phone ngayon, mapa-anong lahi. Na sabi-sabi, kung masumpungan kang meron nito sa mobile phone mo, eh may kalalagyan ka, at talagang may “palo” ka.

CALENDAR

Eto wala naman akong dapat i-update dito. ‘Yong mga holidays naman ay ‘yong mga birthday nang mga taong importante sa buhay ko eh hindi naman nagbago. Maliban nalang siguro kung hindi na sya kasama sa listahan ng mga “importanteng tao” sa buhay ng mangyan.

MULTIMEDIA

Eto ang kasabwat ng Media Player, bukod kasi sa audio at video file eh puno rin ng kung ano-ano ang Picture Gallery ko. Kasama rin sa gallery ang iba-ibang likha ng mga sikat ng pintor tulad ni Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, at kung sino-sino pang pintor. Marami ring akong sariling snap-shots ng kung ano-anong bagay. May damo, may isda, merong kuha ng mga kalsada, may school supplies meron pa ngang krismas tri eh. May tasa, merong mga pusa (walang aso, kasi bihira ang aso dito sa Saudi). May mga lagas na dahon, may bulaklak, may puno ng balete, may tinapay. May mga larawang dati ko nang ipinaskil sa aking blog. Punong-puno! Halo-halo.

OFFICE

Wala namang update na kailangan. ‘Yong ibang office file ko (excel, word, powerpoint, acrobat) updated pa naman. Hindi naman ganoon kalaki ang inuukupang lugar sa mobile ko, pero itago ko na lang, madalas kasing kung kelan ko binura eh saka ko naman kakailanganin.


Hhaayy.. nakakapagod rin. Kahit nakaupo lang at panay lang ang pindot eh masakit pa rin sa mata. Masakit rin sa utak kaiisip kung importante o walang kwenta ang laman. Pahinga muna…

Browse Me, Browse Me Not

Isang araw, kahit isang blog lang. Yan ang plano ko. Sabi ko hinding-hindi ko palilipasin ang isang buong araw o ang bente kwatro oras ng wala man lang akong maisulat sa aking blog. Kaya kagabi, medyo may kalaliman man ang gabi ay pinilit kong sumulat.

IE 7 ang gamit kong browser. Ok naman... hanggang sa noong isang gabi ay may nakita akong bagong version, IE 8, though it's still a beta pero try ko na rin. Syempre hindi ko lang alam kong common 'to sa lahat ng tao, na ang gusto natin ay nasa atin ang latest. Kaya naman download agad ako and install.

Matapos ang installation, ok.. astig ang porma. Dito sa IE version 8 na 'to, confirm na ngang nabili na ni Tito Bill ang Yahoo!, kasi sa toolbar nya, kung sa IE 7 halos lahat ng icon ay MSN or hotmail related feature, dito sa version na 'to, mixed na - at mapapansin mo na maraming icon ang para sa Yahoo!. Ok naman ang porma 'yon nga lang sandamakmak ang icons and shortcuts sa itaas - in-occupied na nya siguro 'yong 15% ng itaas na bahagi ng browser.

So ok na lahat diba? E'di punta agad ako sa blog site, ko.. tipa agad

At doon nag-umpisa ang pakikipag-away ko sa aking sarili kung bakit ba naman nai-install-install ko pa ang version na 'to. Hindi ako makapag-login sa blog account ko. Meron kung ano-anong cookie and java settings pa na hinihingi. Sa madaling salita, naubos ang mahigit isang oras ko sa wala, at talaga namang nakatikim ng pagkarami-raming mura ang aking sarili mula sa akin bago ako nawalan ng pag-asa.

Hanggang sa huling subok, aba pumasok na. At nakakapag-blog na nga ako. Ok na, 'yon ang akala ko, kasi noong time na mag-i-insert na ako ng image, naghang ang browser at ang mga tinipa ko sa loob ng mahigit labinglimang minuto ay nauwi sa wala.

Kasi nga kahit papaano solid Windows ako, so na try ko rin na mai-publish 'yong blog - "Panaginip: Tubig", kaso walang image.

Huli na ng mapagisip-isip ko na hindi nga pala IE lang ang nag-iisang browser sa balat ng internet. Punta ako ng Safari, Firefox, Opera. At sa mga iyon tunay nga namang iba't-ibang karanasan sa bawat isa. Safari for windows, the best - basta kakaiba sya (now makes me think to convert from windows to mac), Firefox napaka simple - mama-maximized mo talaga ang buong space kasi konting-konti lang ang icons and short-cuts sa itaas na bahagi ng browser unlike IE 8. At Opera, gaya ng Firefox simple lang rin, pero hindi gaya ng Firefox na once installed diretso browse na agad. Sa Opera, may mga basic setups pa rin na kailangang i-set, but its a good news for mobile user. Kasi dito sa Opera, if you're using Opera on your mobile as your internet browser, puede mong i-synchronized ang mga nasa favorites mo sa 'yong PC to your mobile set, diba astig. At meron pa syang "Speed Dial" thingy..

Sa huli naisip ko rin na kaya nga pala binili ng Windows ang Yahoo! is to compete with Googles. So siguro sa umpisa, opinyon ko lang 'to, yong ibang Google features and products ay medyo hindi maa-accomodate ng IE, syempre ang produkto nila ang kanilang palalakasin.

So yon na yon... natulog ako kagabi ng may apat na browser installed. he he he
